Gold for Tyrol’s Treasure Chest. FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence, Moscow, 30 May 2019
We are the champions! It was with “Tyrol’s Treasure Chest” (the Collections and Research Centre of the Tyrolean State Museums) that we claimed gold at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence – the “Oscars of Real Estate” – in Moscow on 30 May 2019.
This project had already received the FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Austria during the previous year and thus been entered in the international competition (in the “Sustainable Development” category). The World Prix d’Excellence, encompassing a total of 15 categories, was awarded this year for the 28th time.
“This project struck the international jury as one of unmatched consistency and coherence. Its one-of-a-kind low-tech approach and interplay of solutions for special requirements stood out from the international competition. The challenges of understanding the complex intended uses and realizing a consistent architectural solution were met masterfully by Franz&Sue,” commented jury member Ing. Mag. Hannes Horvath.
Corinna Toell, project head at Franz&Sue: “The Collections and Research Centre of the Tyrolean State Museums is far more than just a storage facility. It’s conceived to be a storehouse for eternity, and it’s also a building that reflects Tyrolean pride: firmly rooted in the earth with just the tip of the iceberg visible.”
